a 6.9 earthquake. many buildings collapsed, roads closed and people hurt. today, we practiced a disaster. a skill we all need to know....really. we think we know what we would do, but do we really? today I learned, that even well planned and orchestrated plans can fall apart. I learned that communication is HUGE! I also learned that not everyone does their job or plays their role or stays in character when needed. I learned that I am calm under pressure and can sort through the myriad of orders being barked, prioritize them and follow them through. I learned that I know more than I think I do. I learned who I will follow, listen to and support in an emergency. I learned that the best leaders know their limitations and share the glory and the shame. I learned that we all have something to learn. We're ready for next time! Better.
